How to pick the perfect wine for a dinner party

How to pick the perfect wine for a dinner party

Picking the perfect wine for a dinner party can be daunting, especially if you are not sure of your guest's preferences. However, we have created some tips to help guide you and give the wines you pick the wow factor your guests are looking for.

1. Pair wines with foods from the same region

One of our favorite ways to impress guests is by pairing the food with wines from the same region. This allows a full culinary experience from start to finish. For example, if you are serving Agnolotti pasta, a traditional Northern Italian dish, we suggest serving a Barolo, which comes from the same region.

2. Match the wine's intensity to the food

Wine can truly make or break a good meal, especially if the flavors clash - so it's important to try to match your food's intensity with the wines you choose. For example, if you are eating a red meat dish, we typically suggest a bold, full-bodied wine such as a Cabernet Sauvignon or a Chardonnay. On the other side, if you are eating a delicate meal, such as a summer salad, we suggest trying a lighter, fruit-forward wine, such as a Rosé, or a more acidic wine such as a Sancerre.

3. If you need to play it safe, try sparkling

If you really can't decide what type of wine is right for your party, opt for sparkling! Sparkling wine is a great option to begin a celebration and will make any dinner party feel festive. You can also add in a variety of sparkling options including a sparkling red, otherwise known as Lambrusco. New to Lambrusco? Check out our article on new and upcoming wines here.
